PIPC Congratulates Dr. Regina Benjamin

| Posted in:

Congratulations to Dr. Benjamin.

On behalf of the members of the Partnership to Improve Patient Care (PIPC), I would like to congratulate Dr. Regina Benjamin on her nomination to be the Surgeon General.  Dr. Benjamin has been a lifelong advocate for patients and her career is a testament to the hardworking healthcare professionals who toil, often anonymously, to help patients receive the care they need.

Here at PIPC, we are also working to ensure that care is patient-centered, specifically with regards to comparative effectiveness research (CER).  We believe that if CER is done right, it will use clinical data to give patients and healthcare providers accurate medical information that improves healthcare quality and supports continued medical progress.   By keeping the research patient-focused and the process transparent, it will empower patients and providers with information they can use to make good treatment decisions.

Every body is different.  As a result, different treatments may have different levels of effectiveness for different people.  So it’s important that CER be done in a way that everybody benefits.

We look forward to working with Dr. Benjamin and wish her good luck as our nation’s doctor.
